About Grace Lee

In the past fifteen years of teaching experience, Grace has helped students find their authentic voice whether they are singing or playing the piano. She helps students to develop the confidence to perform in any situation by teaching them how to master the fundamental habits required to take their craft to the next level and overcome performance anxiety.

A main part of her teaching philosophy is helping students lay down a solid technical foundation for performing and preventing bad habits that are all too common and can cause irreparable damage. In this way, Grace helps students to have a sustainable performance career by helping them preserve their voice and hands so they can sing and play with ease for years to come. Instead of using a 'carrot and stick' method to motivate her students, she helps students find a spark of motivation within themselves to empower them to gain independence in learning their craft, while providing appropriate guidance when needed.

As a seasoned performer, Grace also has expertise in developing the skills that students need in order to succeed in auditions, competitions, and other performance opportunities. Grace’s compelling stage presence has been proven through countless achievements. She competed at the provincial level in piano at age 13 and debuted at age 16 in the starring role of the world-premiere opera production of Pandora's Locker, and was interviewed by the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC National) and Classical FM radio station.

Since then, Grace has won several competitions and has performed as a soloist for many orchestras such as Yemel Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, Korean Canadian Symphony Orchestra, and Markham Symphony Orchestra. She has also toured the U.S. and sang in five productions for Opera Atelier, an internationally recognized opera company, making her solo debut as Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro

Grace has completed a Performance Diploma in Vocal Performance at the Glenn Gould School of Music of The Royal Conservatory of Music. With over twenty years of professional performance experience, Grace has extensive knowledge related to tackling the challenges of performing, regardless of genre or style. After a lifetime of learning the flute, violin, piano, and classical singing, Grace is acquainted with both the joys and challenges of making music. She looks forward to hearing from you and supporting you in your journey of learning to create beautiful music while enjoying the entire process.
